Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive and Transfer to the Hotel
Meet and greet at Kigali International Airport with our representative who will warmly welcome you and facilitate seamless arrival formalities. We will transfer you to your hotel, which is a few minutes from the airport. However, depending on which time of arrival, you are advised to have your money changed and enjoy the City tour or spend your time in the Hotel.

You may visit the Craft and Food Markets crowning your Day with leisure drive through Nyamirambo Township– this is the oldest town in Kigali which has a unique stretched neighbourhood found in south-western corner of Kigali that envelopes diverse behaviour with dominancy of Arab – like Culture. It is a huge stretched corner which is sometimes referred to as a gangsters’ Paradise! Characterized with Many Muslim residents, Mosques and unlike other places that close by 8pm with everyone inside their homes, Nyamirambo hustles and rocks late into the nights!

Or – We will visit the genocide memorial site to learn about Rwanda’s history -from pre-colonial times during the 1994 genocide- and other genocides in the world. You will also know how this country has dealt with that past. Later, we will depart Kigali and drive to Ruhengeri –

Day 2: Helicopter transfer to Akagera National Park –Afternoon Boat Safari on Lake Ihema
After morning breakfast, have a morning helicopter transfer to Akagera National Park found in Eastern Rwanda-the land of a thousand hills. Akagera is one of the extensive savannah parks in East Africa and the only one in Rwanda, occupying up to 1122sq.kms of land. The park protects diversity of species but essentially, all the big five game-leopards, lions, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos; the distinct roan antelopes, zebras, bush bucks, birds, Masai giraffes, water bucks etc.In the afternoon, undertake a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Rest in the evening, enjoy the refreshing drinks, and retire for the night at your accommodation or camp. Overnight: Magashi Wilderness Lodge

Day 3: Full Day Guided Game Drives
After Breakfast, enjoy the park’s biodiversity on a game drive, we will come across the big five game-leopards, lions, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos; the distinct roan antelopes, zebras, bush bucks, birds, Masai giraffes, water bucks etc. Overnight: Magashi Wilderness Lodge

Day 4: Transfer to the Heli Platform for Helicopter transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After Morning breakfast, we will depart for Volcanoes National Park reaching in time to relax and a hot lunch. In the evening, a group of cultural dancers organised by the lodge will spice your stay with some of the most memorable Rwandan dances or you can engage in any optional activity at your own Cost to sum up your day. Day 5: Gorilla Tracking Experience
After an early breakfast depart to the starting point for briefing about your gorilla trekking adventure, after which you will be led by experienced gorilla trackers on the slopes of the volcanoes. You will start from the site where the gorillas were encountered the day before and from here, the gorilla tracking begins.
Although the hike can be physically demanding, the anticipation of the exciting experience ahead is amazing, and the beauty of the gorilla forest and its inhabitants are fascinating. One of Africa’s major highlights is when you encounter these amazing apes. It is a humbling experience to stand just meters from man’s distant cousins as they eat rest, play and bond with their young ones. Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest, and discover their gorgeous natural habitual and the many species they share it with. You are allowed an hour with the gorillas before finally sloping down back to your lodge.

Day 6: Hike to Diana Fossey Grave – Visit to the Guardian Village
After breakfast, Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Proceed with the trail head to access the karaoke research Camp which is about 10 minutes from the park boundary Trekking to the Dian Fossey’s grave takes about one and half to 2 hour hike which too rewards you with good views of forest hogs, forest elephants, a variety of primates and bird species.

This hike is an incredible experience physically, emotionally and intellectually. It is so inspiring to learn about someone who was so dedicated and left a legacy that exists even today. The hike involves moving through the forests and hiking up the slopes and therefore requires some relative degree of fitness and patience. At the site you will find the house from where Dian Fossey was mysteriously murdered in 1985 but the more peaceful is the place where she was buried just next to her favourite gorilla friend, Digit and about 20 other mountain gorillas either killed by poachers or suffered death for other reasons unknown.

After lunch in the Jungle lunch, hike to Ibyawacu Community or Village which is a Profit Umbrella that that aims at improving the lives of Poachers or the Community through Community initiatives, supporting community development and livelihood based projects. Share their stories and Knowledge

Day 7: Helicopter transfer to Nyungwe National Park – Afternoon Canopy walk
Have your breakfast and transfer to the Airstrip for your helicopter transfer to Nyungwe National Park. You will reach in time for lunch at the Lodge. Relax at the roof top enjoying the soothing fire and thrilling views of the neighbouring estates, traditional homes and tea estates.

After a Hot lunch at the Lodge, we will drive to Uwinka, the main reception center of the park, and set out for the canopy walk to experience the park from a different perspective – the Canopy Walkway is a highlight of a Nyungwe Safari and hangs 60 meters above the forest floor between giant trees and towers, this is East Africa’s only Canopy Walkway that provides a stunning view of the park’s amazing wildlife and nature. The Walkway is accesses several trails including the famous Igishigishigi trail if one is interested in hiking one! Enjoy epic views of the Nyungwe forest and catch elusive wildlife in the canopies such as monkeys and birds!

Day 8: Chimpanzee Trekking Experience
After early breakfast we will transfer to the nearest reception center in Nyungwe forest by 5am to meet the ranger guides for the pre-trek briefing and thereafter drive to the start point of trekking in the Nyungwe forest to track the Wild chimpanzees – Nyungwe Rainforest is a haven for primates and believed to be one of the oldest forests in Africa and still remains ever green with an untouched natural rainforest that is filled with exciting biodiversity that includes habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primates species (including a 400-strong troop of habituated Ruwenzori Black & White Colobus), it’s also a birder’s paradise with over 300 species, including 16 endemics, and is home to 75 different species of mammals. After the locating the cheeky wild elements of the park, you will have only one hour to observe them as you exercise a great ideal with great photogenic shots with them! Day 9: Helicopter Transfer to Kigali International Airport

After breakfast, you will meet and Greet with our Representative, who will transfer you to the Airstrip for your Flight Back to Kigali – You may go for a city drive and visit craft market for your African Souvenir. Enjoy an outbound flight back home or to the next destination.
