This 16 Day – Classic Accessible Holiday Trip in Rwanda starts and ends in Kigali International Airport. Meet eye to eye with the amazing Primates of Rwanda in their natural habitat, one of Africa’s major highlights. This close encounter with these amazing apes is simply breathtaking. Also get a close encounter with other diverse African wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and amazing culture and if you are a keen Birder, this is the place to be. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Meet and greet at Kigali International Airport
Meet and greet at Kigali International Airport where your Classic Wheelchair friendly Holiday Trip in Rwanda starts by our representative who will warmly welcome you and facilitate seamless arrival formalities.

Depending on the time of arrival you are advised to have money Changed on this day and time allowing you may go for city tour with the help of our driver/guide, visit the shopping Malls around town and craft villages to get items which you may need while in upcountry.

Day 2: Spend your day at the Hotel relaxing
Arise at leisure and slowly roll your wheel chair to the restaurant for your meals. You will spend a whole day at lodge or depending on how you feel this day, please feel free to speak to your guide about activities you would like to engage in. You may visit the Genocide memorial museum or spend the day at the pool side or in your room. Overnight: Kigali Serena Hotel

Day 3: Attend the Cooking classes organizes by the women group – Relax whole afternoon
Let’s explore the beauty of Rwanda with a women group in Nyamirambo where you will go to the Market and return with the Food staffs – you will go through a Process to prepare local Dishes which you will enjoy at last. Overnight: Kigali Serena Hotel

Day 4: Helicopter transfer Akagera National Park - Relax the whole afternoon
Have an early morning breakfast, and a helicopter transfer to Akagera National Park found in Eastern Rwanda – the land of a thousand hills. Akagera is one of the extensive savannah parks in East Africa and the only one in Rwanda, occupying up to 1122sq.kms of land and it protects a diversity of species but essentially, all the big five game-leopards, lions, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos; the distinct roan antelopes, zebras, bush bucks, birds, Masai giraffes, water bucks etc. Overnight: Magashi Wilderness Lodge

Day 5: Morning Bush Breakfast & Guided Game Drive
Explore the Rwanda’s only open Savannah National Park on a morning guided game drive where you will come across the big five game-leopards, lions, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos; the distinct roan antelopes, zebras, bush bucks, birds, Masai giraffes, water bucks etc. You will enjoy a Bush breakfast well prepared by the lodge and later transfer with a game drive enroute the Lodge. Day 6: Morning Relaxation – Afternoon Private Boat Safari on Lake Ihema
We will relax the whole morning admiring the sereninty of the beautiful Camp and later after our hot lunch, we will undertake a guided boat cruise on Lake Ihema coming across the birdlife and aquatics. Overnight: Magashi Wilderness Lodge

Day 7: Helicopter Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
In the morning your helper will help you pack your bags together and later we will transfer to the Helicopter platform to Nyungwe Forest National Park found in the farther Southern section of Rwanda. The Park extends for about 1000sq.kms, sheltering important wildlife species including 13 primate species, 310 species of birds. Overnight: One and Only Nyungwe House

Day 8: Full day relaxation at the Lodge
Spend the day rolling from end to end camp, each corner at the house has its own uniqueness. Alternatively, we can spend our day in our room or at the bar side sampling a little more drinks at an extra cost to perfectly ride our day off. Overnight: One and Only Nyungwe House

Day 9: Morning Chimpanzee Trekking (Allocation of porters and Sedan seat stretchers or use of Joelettes in case guests have along with them)
Begin you’re with a delicious breakfast, after, visit Uwinka reception to meet the park official for briefing about the chimpanzee trekking rules. You will be allocated the sedan seat stretchers or your helper will assemble your joelettes. Here we set off to search for a habituated chimp community in Nyungwe Forest via Uwinka area and this will be for 2-4 hours and it includes one hour of close encounter. Day 10: Leisure Private transfer to Lake Kivu – spend a day relaxing at the Beach
Have breakfast and Transfer to Lake Kivu for Relaxing – Upon Arrival, you will have lunch and crown your day on the sandy sunny beach. There are a good number of activities you can choose to engage in at an extra costs – they include, kayaking on Lake Kivu where you will explore Lake Kivu’s spectacular ‘Bay of Islands’. Paddling through the deep azure waters of Lake Kivu’s or we can have a sunset Boat adventure to the Islands, this all depends on how we need our day to end. Overnight: Serena Kivu

Day 11: Spend the day Relaxing – Sundowner boat cruise to the neighboring islands
Today, we can still do the same activities as we did the previous day or we can choose to relax at the hotel. We will undertake all our meals at the hotel or we can try out other restaurants around the beach. We can visit the fishermen, interact with them and sample fresh fish. Overnight: Serena Kivu

Day 12: Leisure transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After morning breakfast, you will speak to the guide about what time you would like to check out depending on the lodge arrangements and the distance to be driven to the Volcanoes, here we will enjoy a leisure drive to the Park, checking in in time for Lunch and afternoon relaxation. Day 13: Morning relaxation – Afternoon visit to the Twin Lakes, Rukundo and Burera, enjoy a canoe around one of the lakes
We will relax in the morning and later visit the Twin Lakes, Burera and Lake Ruhondo. The stunning twin lakes provides a relaxing moment while on the canoe. We come across the fisher men, vegetation backdrops, birdlife among others. We will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight: Bisate Camp

Day 14: Gorilla Trekking (Allocation of porters and Sedan seat stretchers or use of Joelettes in case guests have along with them)
After an early breakfast depart to the starting point for briefing about your gorilla Tracking and allocation of sedan seat stretchers. We will be led by experienced gorilla researchers on the slopes of the volcanoes. We start from the site where the gorillas were encountered the day before and from here the gorilla Tracking begins.

Although the hike can be physically demanding, the anticipation of the exciting experience ahead is amazing, and the beauty of the gorilla forest and its inhabitants are fascinating. One of Africa’s major highlights is when you encounter these gentle apes. It is a humbling experience to stand just meters from man’s distant cousins as they eat rest, play and bond with their young ones.

Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest, and discover their gorgeous natural habitual and the many species they share it with. You will move along the Gorillas for over four hours with the before finally sloping down back to your lodge.

Don’t forget to carry your rain gear, packed lunch, plenty of water, gloves, hat, and water proof bag for protection of your camera in case of rain.

Day 15: Morning relaxation at lodge – Visit to Nyanza Palace
After our lunch, transfer to Nyanza Palace and see the reconstruction of the traditional royal residence, the King’s Palace is a beautifully-crafted thatched dwelling shaped like a beehive. In olden times, Nyanza was the heart of Rwanda. According to oral tradition, it was the site of battles and power struggles. For a long time, the monarchy was mobile, moving the court between various locations. When it eventually settled in one place, Nyanza was the obvious choice. The capital of the kingdom had as many as 2,000 inhabitants, and huts built with the same methods as seen here. Overnight: Bisate Camp
